Neil Harbisson: I listen to colour [TED VIDEO]

Neil Harbisson was born totally colour blind, and in 2004 he worked together with an engineer to create a device that allowed him to hear, colour. The device is an electronic 'eye' that emits a tone or pitch for each colour it sees. He thinks that the world will be more interesting if we stopped developing apps for our mobiles and started to develop them for our bodies instead. He created an organization/charity for people who wish to extend their senses and become 'cyborgs'.

With the use of his electronic eye, he can hear colour, he now views paintings and faces as songs. He also now paints via what sounds good, instead of what would look good. The device is attached to a chip in the back of his head. It would be an interesting experience. To extend your senses and expand your knowledge. It would certainly increase the views people have on art nowadays, making it more of an interesting experience.

Candy Chang: Before I Die I want to... . [TED VIDEO]

In this video, Candy Chang an artist from New orleans talks about how she created a community space for the people in her area.

She created a communal chalk board on the outside walls of an abandoned house in New Orleans, with the message on it "Before I die I want to..." encouraging people to fill in the blanks.

She discusses how the tragedy there has effected her life and how she now views life as short, and tender. I do have to disagree with that statement as life, is not short in a sense when you are living it. It does feel quite long and tedious. It is also not tender, it is a journey of many ups and downs with many very rocky points and sharp corners to bump you around.

Her art installation has now been implemented all over the world in multiple countries, encouraging people to embrace life and live it to the fullest extent. This is a good idea, considering the depression around the world.
